When to replace each part - GMC Sierra 1500 2014-2018

The schedule above is organized by mileage. This is the same information organized by part, for when you already know what you are replacing and just need the interval.

Engine oil & filterGM Oil Life Monitor - typically 7,500 mi; oil and filter must be changed at least once a year regardless of indicated life; if the monitor is reset accidentally, change the oil within 3,000 mi of the last change
Transmission fluidNormal duty: change fluid and filter every 97,500 mi; Severe duty (towing/off-road/plowing): every 45,000 mi
CoolantEvery 150,000 mi or 5 years, whichever comes first
Spark plugsACDelco 41-114 (all three K2XX gas engines): every 97,500 mi
Engine air filterEngine air cleaner filter: replace every 45,000 mi or 4 years, whichever comes first (more often if driving in dusty conditions)
Cabin air filterReplace every 22,500 mi or 2 years, whichever comes first
BrakesInspect at every 7,500-mi tire rotation; no separate fixed-mileage brake inspection in the owner's manual - it is folded into the Required Services visual check
Tires
  • 2014: Rotate every 7,500 mi (with each Required Services interval); GM does not publish a differential/axle fluid change interval on this generation. For MY2014 specifically, the front 4WD axle calls for SAE 80W-90 Axle Lubricant (GM Part No. 89021671) - the rest of the K2XX run (MY2015-2018) switches to SAE 75W-90 Synthetic (GM Part No. 88900401) instead. Rear axle is SAE 75W-85 Synthetic Axle Lubricant (GM Part No. 19300457), unchanged from MY2015-2018
  • 2015-2018: Rotate every 7,500 mi (with each Required Services interval); GM does not publish a differential/axle fluid change interval on this generation. The K2XX manual names a lubricant and GM part number for each axle instead, with no mileage or time trigger given for either: MY2015-2018 call for SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Axle Lubricant (GM Part No. 88900401) front 4WD and SAE 75W-85 Synthetic Axle Lubricant (GM Part No. 19300457) rear (see the MY2014 override for that year's different front-axle figure)
BatteryTest annually after 3 years; typical service life 4-5 years
