Can I use UDT instead of Super UDT2, or mix the two?

Per the manuals checked for this guide (L2501, B2601, LX2610), yes - both fluids are listed as acceptable for the shared transmission/hydraulic case and front axle. The manuals do not warn against mixing them. If your machine is under warranty or you want to stay closest to the factory fill, genuine Super UDT2 is still the safer default.

Is there a Kubota UDT equivalent or alternative I can buy instead?

Several third-party tractor fluids are marketed as meeting Kubota's UDT and Super UDT specs, but we could not find a Kubota-published list of approved alternative brands. If you use one, check that the jug states the specific Kubota spec (not just "universal tractor fluid") before you pour it in. Genuine Kubota fluid remains the safe default, especially under warranty.

What hydraulic oil does a Kubota excavator or SVL track loader take?

Not UDT. The KX080-3 excavator ships with Shell Tellus S2 M46 (ISO VG 46) and calls for a hydraulic oil change every 1,000 hours. The SVL75-2 track loader ships with Idemitsu Daphne Super Hydro 46ST (also ISO 46) and its manual gives a seasonal table: ISO 32 for winter or low temperatures, ISO 46 as the standard grade, and ISO 68 for summer or high ambient temperatures. Kubota also sells its own excavator hydraulic oil in ISO 32 and ISO 46.

How much fluid does my BX, B, L, or LX Kubota take?

It depends on the model - see the capacity table above for the BX2380, B2601, L2501, LX2610 and RTV-X1100C. Always confirm against your own machine's operator's manual before you buy fluid, since capacities differ by transmission type (2WD/4WD/HST) even within the same model.

Kubota fluids at a glance

Most Kubota compact tractors (BX, B, L, LX) share KUBOTA SUPER UDT2 across the transmission, hydraulics and front axle - Kubota's own manuals state that "Regular UDT is also permitted for use in this machine," so both fluids are factory-approved. Engine oil is a separate spec, picked by temperature: above 25C (77F) use SAE30/10W-30/15W-40; -10C to 25C (14F to 77F) use SAE20/10W-30/15W-40; below -10C (14F) use 10W-30. On the non-DPF machines (L2501, B2601, BX, KX080-3) the manuals say API CJ-4 oil "cannot be used on this tractor" - CJ-4 is for DPF-equipped engines only. Grease is multipurpose EP2, NLGI No. 2. Excavators (KX) and track loaders (SVL) do not use UDT - they take a plain ISO-graded hydraulic oil (ISO 32 winter, ISO 46 standard, ISO 68 summer); the KX080-3 ships with Shell Tellus S2 M46 and the SVL75-2 with Idemitsu Daphne Super Hydro 46ST.

On the tractors covered here the transmission/hydraulic fluid is first changed at 400 hours, with no earlier interim change listed. The RTV-X1100C differs: its hydraulic tank oil is changed every 200 hours while its separate transmission fluid follows the 400-hour interval. Engine oil and the HST transmission oil filter both get an earlier first change at 50 hours, then settle into their model's interval (L2501 every 400 hours, B2601/BX every 200 hours, KX080-3 every 250 hours). Coolant (fresh clean soft water with antifreeze) changes every 2,000 hours or 2 years, whichever comes first.
