What Honda A17 includes
- Replace engine oil (the A): 0W-20 full synthetic on most modern Hondas, called done by the oil life monitor based on actual driving conditions.
- Reset the oil life monitor: Standard step after any A service - hold the SEL/RESET control or use the dash menu so the next code is calculated correctly.
- Rotate tires (the 1): Front tires wear faster on a front-wheel-drive Honda. Rotating at oil-service intervals keeps the set aging together and gets more life out of the full set.
- Replace brake fluid (the 7): Bled and refilled with fresh DOT 3 or DOT 4 fluid. Moisture absorbed over time lowers the fluid boiling point, which is why Honda puts this on a roughly 3-year clock rather than a mileage one.
A17 is three characters, three unrelated maintenance items. A means change the engine oil. 1 means rotate the tires. 7 means replace the brake fluid. None of the three trigger each other - they simply happen to be due on the same visit, which is exactly how the Maintenance Minder works: it does not schedule a package, it reports whatever clocks have run out at once.
