Honda Odyssey 2018-2026 maintenance schedule

Each model year's source document is named under "by model year" below. A row or service that only some years have names those years.

IntervalService
Maintenance Minder Code A
  • Replace engine oil
Maintenance Minder Code B
  • Replace engine oil and oil filter
  • Inspect front and rear brakes
  • Inspect tie rod ends, steering gearbox, and boots
  • Inspect suspension components
  • Inspect driveshaft boots
  • Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS/VSA)
  • Inspect all fluid levels and condition of fluids
  • Inspect exhaust system and fuel lines and connections
Sub-item 1
  • Rotate tires
Sub-item 2 (typically every 15,000 mi)
  • Replace engine air cleaner element - every 15,000 mi if you drive in dusty conditions
  • Replace dust and pollen (cabin) filter - every 15,000 mi if you drive primarily in urban areas with high soot from industry or diesel traffic
  • Inspect drive belt
Sub-item 3 (2020-2026 only)
  • Replace automatic transmission fluid - applies to every trim now that the 10-speed automatic is standard across the lineup (the 2018-2019 manuals excepted Touring/Elite from this item; that exception, and its severe-duty mileage note, are both gone from the 2020 manual onward). Honda publishes no mileage for this item on this generation; the Maintenance Minder alone decides
Sub-item 3 (typically every 60,000 mi) (2018-2019 only)
  • Replace automatic transmission fluid - Honda's manual shows this item only on LX/EX/EX-L/EX-L Navi&RES (9-speed automatic); Touring and Elite (10-speed automatic) are explicitly excepted from it. No normal-duty mileage is published; under severe duty (mountainous driving, sustained low vehicle speeds, or trailer towing) Honda calls for a change at 60,000 mi, then every 30,000 mi after that
Sub-item 4 (typically every 60,000 mi)
  • Replace spark plugs
  • Replace timing belt and inspect water pump - the J35 V6 is belt-driven, not chain-driven, even with this generation's direct-injection redesign. Honda's manual publishes no normal-duty mileage for this item - the Maintenance Minder alone decides, based on driving conditions. The manual's only printed number is a severe-duty override: if you regularly drive in very high temperatures (over 110 F/43 C) or very low temperatures (under -20 F/-29 C), replace every 60,000 mi. Independent shops and Honda dealers commonly report the Minder flagging this item somewhere around 100,000-105,000 mi under normal use - that figure is a widely observed estimate, not a Honda-published one.
  • Inspect valve clearance
Sub-item 5
  • Replace engine coolant
Sub-item 7
  • Replace brake fluid. If a Maintenance Minder message for item 7 does not appear within 36 months of the display being reset, change the brake fluid every 3 years (2020-2026 only)
  • Replace brake fluid - numbered as a Minder item starting with this redesign (earlier Odyssey manuals stated it as a separate, unnumbered note). If a Maintenance Minder message for item 7 does not appear within 36 months of the display being reset, change the brake fluid every 3 years (2018-2019 only)

The schedule above is organized by mileage. This is the same information organized by part, for when you already know what you are replacing and just need the interval.

Engine oil & filterHonda Maintenance Minder - no fixed mileage is published; it is calculated from oil life and driving conditions
Transmission fluidMaintenance Minder sub-item 3 - see the schedule row for the exact trim/year scoping and any severe-duty override
CoolantMaintenance Minder sub-item 5 - no fixed mileage published
Spark plugsMaintenance Minder sub-item 4, bundled with the timing belt - see the schedule row; no fixed mileage is published
Engine air filterMaintenance Minder sub-item 2
Cabin air filterMaintenance Minder sub-item 2
BrakesInspected at every Maintenance Minder Code B
TiresRotated at every Maintenance Minder Code B or sub-item 1

  1. Ignition to ON/II, engine off.
  2. Press the SEL/RESET knob repeatedly to cycle the display until "Engine Oil Life %" or the Maintenance Minder code appears.
  3. Press and hold SEL/RESET for about 10 seconds, until the oil-life percentage and maintenance code(s) start blinking.
