B1 is the quietest B code. B means replace the engine oil and oil filter and run Honda's full inspection; 1 means rotate the tires. Nothing else is due: no air or cabin filters, no transmission fluid, no brake fluid, no coolant.
The interesting part of B1 is not the oil. It is the inspection, the only point in the Minder system where Honda asks someone to look at the car instead of replacing a fluid. And the rotation puts the wheels in the air, which is when the brakes and suspension are easiest to see.
So read a B1 as a check-up with an oil change. The car is telling you the oil is spent and nothing else is on a deadline, which keeps the visit simple.
Honda's list is in the box at the top of this page. This split is ours, not Honda's: it separates what an owner can judge from the driveway from what a shop sees better with the car on a lift.
With the wheels off you can read the tire wear. Wear on one inside or outside edge usually points to an alignment issue; scalloped or cupped patches point to worn suspension parts; wear down the center suggests over-inflation, and wear on both edges suggests under-inflation. These are the findings the inspection is meant to turn up, and they are cheaper to deal with on a B1 than on a visit with five other jobs on it.
After the rotation, set pressures to the door-jamb placard, not the number printed on the tire sidewall.
Because B1 has no filters, a shop that calls your air filter dirty is making a judgement, not reading your Minder - ask to see it. Repairs the inspection finds, such as a torn boot or worn pads, are real findings with their own price; get them in writing.

The oil, filter and rotation in B1 are all standard DIY jobs - nothing here is harder than an A1 with an extra filter. The inspection is the one piece you cannot fully replicate in a driveway; a shop has a lift and the eyes to catch a worn brake line or a torn CV boot before it becomes an expensive fix.
A workable split: do the oil, filter and rotation yourself, and get the inspection done once a year or whenever the car is already up on a lift for tires. B1 is one of the cheaper B codes precisely because it has nothing else in it - no filters, no fluids beyond the oil.
Ask for one. A B service should end with a list of what was looked at and what was found, even a checklist with ticks. If the answer is "it was fine" with nothing on paper, you cannot tell whether it happened.
No. B12 adds the engine and cabin air filters (the 2) on top of the same B and 1. B1 is the smaller of the two and the cheaper one.
Ask for the finding in writing with a price, and take it elsewhere for a second quote if it is large. A finding is information; it does not have to be fixed that day unless it affects braking or steering.
