Honda A2 Service Code: What It Means and What It Costs
What Honda A2 includes
- Replace engine oil (the A): The oil life monitor tracked how the oil was actually used and called it done - unrelated to whether the filters are also due.
- Reset the oil life monitor: After the change, reset to 100 percent using the SEL/RESET control or dash menu. Skip this and the next code arrives early and wrong.
- Replace engine air filter (the 2): A restricted filter costs fuel economy before it costs power. Minutes to swap on most Civics, Accords and CR-Vs.
- Replace dust and pollen (cabin) filter (also the 2): Behind the glove box on most models. Weak airflow from the vents is the usual tell that this one is overdue.
- Inspect drive belt (also the 2): Inspect, not replace - cracking or glazing means it is aging, but a healthy belt stays in the car.
A2 pairs the smallest Honda service with one of the bigger sub-codes. A means change the engine oil - nothing else, no filter, no rotation. 2 means replace the engine air filter AND the cabin (dust and pollen) filter, and inspect the drive belt.
