Honda A12 Service Code: What It Means and What It Costs
What Honda A12 includes
- Replace engine oil (the A): The oil life monitor tracked real driving conditions and called this one done.
- Reset the oil life monitor: Standard step after any A service - hold the SEL/RESET control or use the dash menu so the next code is calculated correctly.
- Rotate tires (the 1): Front tires wear faster on a front-wheel-drive Honda. Rotating at oil-service intervals keeps the set aging together.
- Replace engine air filter (the 2): A restricted filter costs fuel economy before it costs power. A quick swap on most Civics, Accords and CR-Vs.
- Replace dust and pollen (cabin) filter (also the 2): Behind the glove box on most models. Weak vent airflow is the usual sign this one is overdue.
A12 is the most common way the 2 shows up, because the 1 rides along with almost every oil service. A means change the engine oil. 1 means rotate the tires. 2 means replace the engine air filter and the cabin (dust and pollen) filter, and inspect the drive belt.
